Shared mission between religious and laity and formation of educators
The II Seminar on the formation of educators, organised by the Education Commission of the UISG/USG was held in the General House of the Marist Brothers in Rome on 16 and 17 November. It was aimed at those who are responsible for education in the General Curiae of the Orders and Congregations. The Brothers John Klein, Pietro Betin, Mario Meutti and João Carlos do Prado represented the Marist Institute. Its theme was : «The mission shared between religious and laity and the formation of educators », and its objectives : to foster the exchange of experiences between Institutions and look for ways to help them move forward together at the present time.
This reflection is very timely and forms part of the programme of most religious institutions. We are living at a new time in our history and, together, we can look for responses to help us move forward with greater confidence towards the realization and sharing of our mission and charism.
Apart from the time devoted to reflection and study of the topic, the Seminar also provided a great opportunity to place institutional experiences in common and to build networks.
The principal presenters were Sister Donna Collins, of the Society of the Sacred Heart (Australia), and M. Alberto Cantero, a lay man associated with the charism of the Piarists (Pious Schools). There were also some workshops for sharing the experiences of the Congregations :
