Take on board new ideas

The student leadership gathering aims to deepen the leaders? appreciation and understanding of Marist Spirituality in their own lives and as leaders of their respective schools and colleges. The gathering gives the leaders the opportunity to meet new people of similar heart and mind, experience the Marist family spirit, share the story and traditions of their own schools, learn more about Marcellin Champagnat, set goals together, discuss issues that challenge young people today and pray together.
The participating schools were Trinity College Auburn, St Gregory?s College Campbelltown, Marist College Canberra, St Patrick?s Marist College Dundas, Marist College Eastwood, Red Bend College Forbes, St Francis Xavier?s College Hamilton, St Joseph?s College Hunters Hill, Marist College Kogarah, Cerdon College Merrylands, Marist College North Shore, Trinity College Lismore, Marist College Pagewood, Parramatta Marist High School, Marcellin College Randwick, Mt Carmel High School Varroville, Marist Sisters Woolwich.
Here are some comments from some of the leaders:
?The emphasis on the Marist Family and Spirit really helped me realise the opportunities we have being a part of a Marist school and really erased any sense of being powerless in a situation. I?ve realised that our leadership team has great potential to take action.?
?It gave me an opportunity to take on board new ideas that hopefully I will be able to use in 2006.?
?I have never been to a camp where there is such a group spirit where everyone takes time to get to know new people.?
?The thing I found the most valuable was the friendships that we got the chance to create with people of a similar mind?.
