2024-04-05 GENERAL HOUSE

The III International Assembly of the Marist Mission begins

With the theme “We Are a Global Family”, the III International Marist Mission Assembly begins on Monday. ” It is an important Assembly, with the presence of brothers and lay people from all the Administrative Units of the Institute, to share and reflect on the Marist Mission in our days and with the desire to have a vision for the future.”, emphasizes Brother Ernesto SĂĄnchez, Superior General.

All the information about MIMA III will be available at this address. Information about the Assembly’s activities will appear daily on the Institute’s channels, with the hashtag #MIMA #MaristsOfChampagnat.

Program

The participants will meet at the Retreat House of San José de El Escorial, Spain, beginning on Sunday, April 7. The assembly will conclude on April 14. After arriving on Sunday, the first day of work will be a day of welcome, with a presentation of the week, dynamics of integration, a survey of expectations and words of Brothers Abel Muñoz, Provincial of Ibérica, Ernesto Sånchez, Superior General, and Luis Carlos Gutiérrez, Vicar General.

The second day will focus on the verb “to discover” and the participants will examine the contexts of the Institute and the Church, accompanied by the interventions of Brother Ernesto and Sister Liliana Franco, president of CLAR, who will deal with synodality, religious life and prophecy.

Wednesday, the third day, will also be marked by “discovery”, with emphasis on the social context and emerging realities. Luis Arancibia will help the participants discover the riches and challenges of today’s world for the Marist mission.

The verb “To Dream” will mark the fourth day of MIMA and will be an exercise to unveil the challenges and priority needs for the Marist Mission. Brothers Ben Consigli, General Councilor, and Jorge Gaio, Econome General, will encourage reflection on the vitality and viability that allow for the sustainability of the Mission in the Institute.

On Friday, the participants will begin to “project” the Marist future, proposing orientations for the mission. A question will accompany this day of work: What do we dream of?

Saturday, the penultimate day of the Assembly, will be the moment to think about the drafting of the Assembly message, focused on strategies and recommendations for lines of action to advance our dreams as an Institute.

The Assembly will conclude with a farewell on Sunday, April 14. On that day the message will be presented and the group, by regions, will study the best way to disseminate the results of MIMA III. It will also be the time for the launching of the new edition of the Institute’s document on mission: “In the Footsteps of Marcellin Champagnat: Marist Educational Mission”.
