The Jubilee of mercy begins in Africa

Today the Pope ends his trip in the Central African Republic. We invite you to participate with the whole Church in this important moment.

As a sign of prayer and solidarity with the country, Pope Francis opened the holy door of the cathedral of Bangui on Nov. 29 to give a head start to the Jubilee of Mercy, which will officially begin on Dec. 8. 

During the Mass, he expressed the invitation to be “practitioners of forgiveness.”

The pontiff’s first stop in the country before the cathedral was to a refugee camp in Bangui, which houses thousands of persons displaced by the country’s ongoing conflict.

“My wish is that you can live in peace, regardless of your ethnic group, your culture, your religion and your social background. Everyone must be in peace, everyone! Because we are all brothers,” he told them. “I would like us to repeat together “we are all brothers!” (those present repeated it three times)”.
