Youth Ministry

The Youth Assembly of the Marist Province of « Brasil Centro-Sul » took place in Curitiba on 18 and 19 September 2010. Young people coming from the different Social Centres, Schools and Universities gathered to elect eight representatives who until 2012 will take part in discussions relating to the youth of the Province. The Youth Commission will be a consultative organ ? being able to present proposals; it will help the Sector of Ministry in reflecting on the subject of courses of action for the evangelization of youth in the Province, and will contribute to formation activities and the production of subsidies. The young people elected were: Lucas Alessandro Silva, Gabriel Bernardo da Silva (Paulist), Vinícius Tashima, Bruno Godoz, Lígia Gomes, Mariana Carvalho, Jhenifer da Silveira and Guilherme Perotta. Five of them between the ages of 18 and 25 (Lucas, Gabriel, Vinícius, Bruno and Lígia) will represent the Province at the International Marist Youth Meeting (JMJ) in Madrid in 2011.Among the dreams expressed by the young participants at the Assembly towards building a better world, we choose some to illustrate how our youth want to transform the situation by working with other youth:« To want to change the world begins with wanting to change oneself; we have to be aware of our attitudes, of our actions. Another factor is ?Love-Service?, Agapè, or love of Christ for mankind, unconditional love, in brief, to love others without restriction, without prejudices. »« My dream is to destroy the image of alienation which has formed around youth, the idea that each looks after himself and nothing else. »« The dream of making the world more and more just and solidary causes each young person to insert himself in society, seeing himself as a social agent and not simply as an alienated spectator, someone who wants to contribute in an effective way to the realisation of the collective dream. »« I am conscious that we do nothing by ourselves alone, our hearts are ?branched?, we have the same dreams, the same ideas; we are on the same road in order to arrive at a more just world, and each young person participates in the construction of this world. »Congratulations to the youth on their participation in the Assembly and we hope that God will enlighten the representatives of the Youth Commission, so that the example of the availability of Mary and Champagnat makes them fit to place themselves at the service of Youth. You can follow the Province activities at the following addresses:www.pastoralmarista.org.br http://pjm-pmbcs.blogspot.comwww.twitter.com/pjm_pmbcs
