Paul Sung Pao Shu

Rev. Brother Provincial of the Marist Brothers and the community of Petaling Jaya, Malaysia deeply regret to inform you of the death of Brother Paul Sung Pao Shu, FMS who died on 26th December, 2016 in the 89th year of his age and the 67th year of his religious profession

Br. Paul Sung Pao Shu was born in Jixian, Hebei Province, China on 14/06/ 1927. He entered our Juniorate in Beijing in 1941. He became a novice at Beijing in 1948 and made his first profession on 05/08/1949. On 22/08/1954 he made his perpetual profession.

He was sent to United State and studied in Marian College (1949-1953). He graduated in 1953. After that he taught in Catholic High School, Singapore (1954-1958) and Catholic High School, Petaling Jaya (1958-1964). On May 1964 he became the Principal of Catholic High School until April 1970. He only took 2 months break before he accepted to be the Principal of Catholic High School, Sibu (1970-1974). From Dec 1974 he taught in Sam Tet School, Ipoh until the end of 1981. Then he returned to Catholic High School, Petaling Jaya as its Principal until 1989. From 1989 to 1993 he served Catholic High School, Sibu as its vice- Principal. Then he became Provincial Bursar from 1994 to 1999.

He retired on 2000 and stayed in Petaling Jaya until he was called by the Lord on 26 Dec 2016.

He was well known as builder of schools. He was instrumental in admitting girls into Catholic High School, Sibu and Catholic High School, Petaling Jaya.. During his retirement he took good care of the compound and served the community as cook.

May our Good Lord grant his soul eternal rest and may the light of Crist shines upon him.
