A Filipino assistant to the Econome General
Roy was born on 31 July 1956 at Sagay, province of Negros Occidental, Philippines.
He entered the Marist Brothers in 1979, made his first profession in 1981 and perpetual vows in 1987.
As well as teacher, community superior, bursar, school director, and department head, Roy has been delegate for planning and development, master of novices, and bursar for MAPAC. He is an accountant by profession (COA).
He followed a formation course for formators at the Emmaus Centre in Manila. Elected provincial councillor of the Philippines in 1994, he was re-elected to the position on 21 April 2000. As bursar and accompanier, he was a member of the Orientation Team for the Mission ad gentes programme at Davao (Philippines) for three years.
In its meeting of 25 June, the General Council appointed Roy to assist the Brother Econome General as accountant, for a first mandate of three years. Since 10 October he has been in Rome, working at the mission entrusted to him. He is replacing Brother Guy Palandre, who performed this service with remarkable efficiency during the period 2003-2009.
We are happy with the choice made by Brother Sean and his Council in inviting Brother Roy to be part of the team of the General Administration. His training and his experience in administration, rounded out by his preparation in the fields of formation and government in his Province, will certainly be appreciated in the exercise of his new mission.
Welcome, Brother Roy!
