Conference “Let’s talk about human mobility and Marist Actions”

The Marist Migrant Support Center (CAMMI) and the Thematic Group on “Human Mobility” of the Marist Inter-American Network “Solidarity Heart”, invite Marists, brothers and laity, to participate in the seminar ” Let’s talk about migration. International Protection and internal displacement “, which will be held online, on August 5. At 13:00 P. M. (Mexico local time) and 15:00 P. M. (Argentina local time).

On this occasion, the Marist Migrant Support Center (CAMMI) of Mexico will contribute to the reflection and analysis of this social problem that is being experienced in the region and demands responses from our identity as Marists, committed to the defense and promotion of human rights.

The Marist Inter-American “Solidarity Heart” Network is made up of local, national, sectoral, provincial and/or interprovincial solidarity organizations, as well as Marist NGOs and foundations that accompany and encourage the defense and promotion of the human rights of children, adolescents and young people in the American continent. The Marist Provinces of Central America, Brasil Centro Norte, Brasil Centro Sul, Brasil Sul Amazônia, Cruz del Sur, México Central, México Occidental, Norandina and Santa María de los Andes participate in the Network. It is organized through different thematic groups such as Child Protection Policies, Integral Ecology, Inclusion, Native Peoples, Protagonism and Child and Youth Participation, Integral Care of Life, Urban Peripheries and Violence, Agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Learning + Service and Human Mobility. Each group is coordinated by the service of different provincial referents.

Some of the projects promoted by the Network:

  • Training on issues related to children’s, adolescents, and young people’s (NNAyJ) rights.
  • Promotion of the protection of children against all forms of violence.
  • Promotion of the Institute’s policies in relation to the comprehensive protection of vulnerable children, adolescents, and young people (NNAyJ). Protocols.
  • Initiatives for the recognition of the rights of migrant children.
  • Initiatives for the promotion of the participation and protagonism of children, adolescents, and youth (NNAyJ).
  • Commitments towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (ODS).
  • Positioning of the rights of children, adolescents, and youth among religious organizations and people of faith.
  • Counseling, accompaniment, and support in the participation of international human rights mechanisms of the United Nations, such as the Universal Periodic Review.
  • Advice, accompaniment, and support in the Committee on the Rights of the Child.
  • Advice, accompaniment, and support in the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
  • The Network is currently coordinated by the service of two representatives of the North America Region: Ma. del Socorro Alvarez Noriega – Mexico, Maryuri Morales – Colombia and two representatives of the South America Region: Analía Ruggeri – Argentina and Brother Vicente Sossai Falchetto – Brazil.
