National Assembly of Mission in Loja

Thirty-two leaders of the Marist life and mission pastoral teams of the Ecuador sector, Norandina Province, participated in the National Assembly of Marist Mission that was held in Loja, from February 29 to March 2. The meeting was key for the projection and animation of the different mission areas committed to the evaluation and analysis of the 2023 operational plan, and the projection of activities for 2024.

During the opening of the assembly, Brother Julián Olmo, provincial delegate of Ecuador, encouraged the participants to reflect and share the challenges, dreams, realities of each of the pastoral teams and the localities where Marist life is carried out.

On the first day of the meeting, a workshop on “Strategic Planning” was held, led by Vinicio Melo, a Marist layman, who highlighted the importance of evaluating the Annual Operational Plan and stressed the importance of taking into account the three main objectives: guarantee the effectiveness of strategies and operations, identify needs and difficulties, and reach more technical planning to achieve high quality standards in the plan for 2024.

The meeting was characterized by a dynamic agenda in which the members of the pastoral teams shared different spaces, reflected, evaluated and sought to guide the Marist mission based on the local reality.

At the closing of the assembly, Brother Julián Olmo expressed: “it was a space for reflection where we learned to better schedule the action plan for more effective execution.”
