Webinar on virtual exchange for internationalization from home

The Marist International Network of Institutions of Higher Education is promoting a videoconference on “Virtual Exchange”. The conference is free and open to the public and will be held on November 8 at 9 a.m. (Brasilia time).

During the covid-19 pandemic, the virtual modality increased and the social distancing made many people perform online some kind of cultural or academic exchange. To better understand this local-global context that is enhanced by technology worldwide, the Network of Institutions of Higher Education promotes that event, given by Müge Satar.

The initiative is part of a broad movement of the network during the last two years and aims to collaborate with the formation of leaders, teachers and students of the Higher Education Institutions associated with the Network, providing updated learning and widely connected with current and emerging issues in the field of Higher Education.

Professor Satar has a PhD in Applied Linguistics and teaches at the University of Newcastle, UK. She researches the communicative and pedagogical aspects of multimodal interaction for online language learning and teaching, focusing on social presence, meaning-making, instruction, task design and translanguage.

The event takes place on Tuesday, November 8 at 9 am (Brasilia time), free of charge, via Zoom and will feature simultaneous translation into Spanish and English. Those interested can join the webinar directly through this link (Password: 660100 – Webinar ID: 994 0432 7029).

In relation to the practice of Virtual Exchange, scientifically supported by educational and technological methodologies, Satar highlights: “So far, my research has focused on technology-enhanced foreign language learning and teacher training, especially on the concept of social presence in multimodal and online communication among language learners and interaction and participation in blended learning contexts”.
