The eighth message of the Marist International Mission Commission is an invitation to reflection and action regarding the care of our common home: âWe unite ourselves with the approach which Pope Francis proposes in the encyclical Laudato Si, called an âintegral ecologyâ, which incorporates both human and social dimensions.â
The message was prepared by Brothers Francis Lukong and Ăngel Diego GarcĂa Otaola, directors of the Institute’s Solidarity Secretariat.
The text, inviting us to walk in the perspective of integral ecology, underlines a challenge already present in the last General Chapter: âIt is for us âto abandon the culture of our egos and promote the ideas which reduce the scandal of indifference and of inequalityâ. In this way, will be awakened âan ecological awareness which involves us in the care of our common homeâ.â
