2014-11-25 GENERAL HOUSE

General Administration

On 6 November, memorial of the martyrs of Spain, the brothers and laity of the General Administration gathered to share about the II MIMA of Nairobi, and the opening of the Montagne Year, the first year in preparation for the Bicentenary of the Institute in 2017.

The meeting was prepared by Br Miguel Ángel, Associate Director of the Secretariat of Mission, who began it with a presentation of a summary of the Assembly. Brothers César Rojas, Emili Turú, Eugène Kabanguka and Víctor Preciado shared their experience of life in Nairobi, emphasizing their personal impressions of what the meeting on African soil meant for the Institute.

With the text of the final message in hand, those present divided into small groups to share their personal impressions on the message of the Assembly and, in particular, what pleased each one most.

Brother Emili, Superior General, spoke about the path to be followed in the Institute towards the celebration of the Bicentenary, underlining some aspects of the letter which he wrote some days ago. All received a copy of the text.

To conclude the meeting, each one lit a candle and expressed in a word the experience of these two moments in the life of the Institute, the II MIMA and the Bicentenary. It finished with an invocation to Mary, asking her to guide the Marists on the way to a "new beginning".
