Brother Luis Carlos Gutiérrez Blanco

The General Council has appointed Brother Luis Carlos Gutiérrez Blanco as provincial superior for a second term in office. He will begin on Dec. 9, during the provincial chapter of América Central.

The announcement came in a letter from superior general Brother Emili Turú in a letter to the Brothers of the province dated June 26.

Brief biography

Br Luis Carlos Gutiérrez Blanco was born in Trapagaran, Biscaye, Spain, on 25 March 1967. He pronounced his first vows on 8 June 1986 in the Province of « América Central ». His intellectual qualifications include studies in Social Education and Language, a Licenciate in Theology, Administration and Educational Supervision and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Puerto Rico. His apostolic mission was carried out in Guatemala, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico, as teacher, pastoral co-ordinator, academic co-ordinator, administrator and community superior. He has been a member of the Guiding Committee and treasurer of the Conferences of Religious of Puerto Rico and Guatemala.

Since 2004, he has been Provincial Co-ordinator for Education and the Marist Fraternities of the Province. He was appointed provincial in 2013.
