Organized by the International Council for Economic Affairs (ICEA), the meeting brought together 63 participants from all the Administrative Units of the Marist world.

With a renewed spirit, after experiencing these days of encounter, let us continue to build a new Hermitage in the world, capable of responding to our times, with enthusiasm and audacity. Let us be able to take risks with the necessary prudence” (Br. Jorge Gaio, Econome General)

Within this dialogue, five essential points have emerged to guide the development of the Bursar’s office at all levels of the Institute:

  1. Leadership Development: Create training programs that encompass both charismatic and professional dimensions, incorporating mentorship, succession planning, and cultural transformation to drive change and innovation.
  2. Co-responsibility: Strengthen collaborative efforts between brothers and laity to generate life in the various aspects of the Marist mission.
  3. Mission Vitality and Viability: Establish forums and collaborative bodies to enable the Bursar’s office and the various mission areas to contribute meaningfully to the mission’s development.
  4. Sustainability and Governance: Foster sustainability initiatives throughout the Institute, creating efficient legal structures, and professionalizing governance and management bodies. Employ qualified indicators to inform decision-making and formulate strategies to enhance the mission’s quality, profitability, and scope/reach while adapting to evolving internal and external circumstances.
  5. Collaboration: Promote collaborative actions at all levels of the Institute, strengthening networks and administrative bodies to reinforce the vision of the Global Family, share resources, and enhance efficiency and economies of scale.

These key points highlight the path forward for Marist Bursars and their integral role in the Institute’s mission and its continued success.
